About Us

MIDWEST SYSTEMS announced that 2003 is their 60th year in business. Our first trailer sales and repair facility was opened in 1943, by founder, Earl M. Winkle, under the name Midwest Parts and Equipment Company, the original corporation name. The location was Ninth and Cass, said Justin Williamson and Thomas Lynch, co-owners of the company. We are pleased to say that we have made hundreds of friends in the community since then. Midwest Systems is presently located at 5911 Hall Street, in north St. Louis city, with prior locations on Chouteau and Mound Street before settling on Hall Street. Midwest Systems is a supermarket for the transportation industry, engaging in intermodal city and over the road trucking with 48 state authority and a freight brokerage. We are an intermodal container/chassis depot for the world wide shipping industry, i.e. storing, repairing, handling and repositioning containers and chassis. Our 14 bay trailer repair shop and mobile service handles all types of trailer repair.

Midwest Systems purchased Middle States Mobile Fleet Maintenance in 1996 to start the mobile truck and trailer preventative maintenance division. Under the same ownership, River Roads Distributing Co. was incorporated in 1959. Trailers of all types, new (Strick) and used are sold and leased to the transportation industry. Midwest Systems and River Roads Distributing Company operates on approximately 58 acres of property in the Hall Street area. Adjoining trucking terminals are owned and leased to various companies.  Williamson  and  Lynch assisted Jim Rogers in starting a division called Midwest Systems Truck Equipment (MSTE) in 1992. Mr. Rogers, the present owner, purchased MSTE from Midwest Systems in 1999. MSTE sells, installs, and repairs various truck associated equipment.

We have grown from a two bay repair shop on ¾ acre to a multifaceted transportation company that can take care of any of our customers’ requests. In our sixty years, we have had over $250,000,000 in sales and employed over 400 different employees, one of whom has been with us for 46 years.

We have been able to stay competitive because of the high quality of our employees and their hard work and dedication. Constant operational changes and expansion have allowed us to grow the business and we are predicting more business success for years to come.
